For more information about the "7 Arrows" Bible study method, click here. Notes listed below are from Ed Earnest as an encouragement. You prayerfully & carefully study the passage & see what God shows you.

READ John 1:43-2:25 and answer these questions (reviewed at Connection Groups on September 15, 2019).

  1. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE SAY? Jesus begins to show his disciples who he really is by performing a miracle, fulfilled prophecies and teaching with authority.
  2. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE MEAN TO ITS ORIGINAL AUDIENCE? Even the best of rabbis don’t perform miracles and make wild claims (like v.2:19). Jesus is proving himself to be more than a “good teacher”.
  3. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE TELL US ABOUT GOD? God’s interaction with people is surprising…tender toward common folks in an awkward social situation, tough on people misusing religion for selfish gain $.
  4. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE TELL US ABOUT MAN? Jesus met lfe needs of several groups of people and they didn’t even realize it.
  5. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE DEMAND OF ME? I should remember that Jesus is working, maybe even behind the scenes revealing himself.
  6. HOW DOES THIS PASSAGE CHANGE THE WAY I RELATE TO PEOPLE? Some people need a tender friend who can sympathize with their need. Others need their tables turned over.
  7. HOW DOES THIS PASSAGE PROMPT ME TO PRAY? Lord Jesus, help me to stay the course. Help me to know when to be tender or tough for your name (* just the way you would).
