For more information about the "7 Arrows" Bible study method, click here. Notes listed below are from Ed Earnest as an encouragement. You prayerfully & carefully study the passage & see what God shows you.

READ John 3:1-21 and answer these questions (reviewed at Connection Groups on September 22, 2019).

  1. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE SAY? Jesus makes shocking claims to a big time religious leader- Jesus is the Messiah.
  2. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE MEAN TO ITS ORIGINAL AUDIENCE? Very early in his public ministry Jesus unpacked his identity and purpose to an influential Jewish religious leader.
  3. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE TELL US ABOUT GOD? Jesus was very focused on his mission.
  4. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE TELL US ABOUT MAN? The pride and fear of Nicodemus drove him to be secret in his admiration of Jesus. This very educated man got an education in their conversation.
  5. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE DEMAND OF ME? Being saved and joining Jesus’ mission is more important than the praise of “good morning citizens”.
  6. HOW DOES THIS PASSAGE CHANGE THE WAY I RELATE TO PEOPLE? Most people don’t even know Jesus made exclusive “narrow” claims about how to be a part of the kingdom of God. Even less have experienced being born again.
  7. HOW DOES THIS PASSAGE PROMPT ME TO PRAY? Father, I have believed (trusted) in you as Savior and Lord. Please help me to walk by the spirit and help others do the same…even religious folks. 🙂
