For more information about the "7 Arrows" Bible study method, click here. Notes listed below are from Ed Earnest as an encouragement. You prayerfully & carefully study the passage & see what God shows you.

READ John chapter 10 and answer these questions (reviewed at Connection Groups on December 1, 2019).

  1. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE SAY? Jesus makes several claims about himself describing his mission & the people were divided.
  2. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE MEAN TO ITS ORIGINAL AUDIENCE? The sheep analogy was a throwback to the Exodus days of being led through the wilderness. Now Jesus is saying he is the leader.
  3. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE TELL US ABOUT GOD? The “Good Shepherd” Jesus is tender and nurturing to his flock…and he is also extremely relentless.
  4. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE TELL US ABOUT MAN? Man’ default spiritual state is lostness. Those who refuse the Good Shepherd will stay lost.
  5. WHAT DOES THIS PASSAGE DEMAND OF ME? The best application of John 10 is to rest in the Good Shepherd’s care (like Psalm 23).
  6. HOW DOES THIS PASSAGE CHANGE THE WAY I RELATE TO PEOPLE? Wolves and shepherds both love sheep. Actions speak louder than words.
  7. HOW DOES THIS PASSAGE PROMPT ME TO PRAY?
Savior like a shepherd lead us.
Much we need Thy tender care.
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us.
For Thy use Thy folds prepare.
